Here’s what it takes to create thriving teams
January 15, 2024
I spent last week in Hawai’i with my team at our beginning of the year retreat. By all measures, it was a great success. I feel confident in speaking for everyone when I say that we love spending time together. There’s always laughter and genuine connection and new learnings about each other. I truly love these people.
Our retreat was also a big success because we lived the content of our workshops - of The Art of Coaching Teams and Artful Design and Facilitation. It’s the combination of skills that we teach in these workshops that creates thriving teams. It’s not rocket science, it’s not magic. Leading a thriving team is a skillset that anyone can learn.
I’ve written every single one of my books for myself–for the me I was when I started coaching, when I started facilitating PD, when I started leading teams. Over and over, I’ve thought, If I had only known then what I know now. But what I needed to know, many coaches and leaders need to know. I don’t want to say I have every single answer, but I’ve got a lot of them. There’s really no reason why so many teams should be languishing or struggling or unable to get anything done.
What’s stopping you from building your facilitation and leadership skills?
What’s holding you back from diving deeper into your learning?
(Yes, this is me being direct and perhaps even “confrontational” with you).
Do You Trust Your Team?
February 26, 2024
The majority of team leaders and facilitators that I’ve met want to build their team’s capacity. They want to see their team do good work; they want to see teammates thrive. But when I ask them this question: Do you trust your team? They freeze.
My Top 5

Here are my top five things that I’m SO excited about related to my next book.
My Favorite Coaching Phrase
February 19, 2024
In The Art of Coaching workshop, we talk about the five “Coaching Survival Phrases.” The last of those is one of my favorite questions to ask a client: Is there a question that would be helpful for me to ask you right now?
I Made It!

Last Thursday, on February 1, I submitted the manuscript for my 8th book. I started working on this in 2022, when I thought I was doing a light revision of The Art of Coaching, but I quickly realized that I have learned so much about coaching since I wrote it in 2012, that I needed to write a whole new book.
