How much do you trust your team?
February 23, 2026

Over the years, I’ve asked hundreds of team leaders a simple question:
Do you trust your team?
And more often than not, there’s a pause, and a flicker of discomfort crosses their face.
Eventually, people say things like:
“I’m not sure.”
“…not completely.”
“Sometimes.”
“I really want to, but…”
“I used to.”
I never judge these answers. Often, leaders have good reasons for their hesitation. Past harm. Inconsistency. Misalignment. Unclear expectations. The hesitation itself is honest.
I also know that without trust, the work suffers. The team feels it. And the leader feels it most of all.
To be an effective leader you have to trust.
So let me ask you directly:
Do you trust your team?
If not, what would need to shift for trust to grow?
And here’s the harder, more important question:
Do you trust yourself?
Your judgment. Your facilitation skills. Your ability to navigate conflict and complexity. Your capacity to lead a group of humans with purpose and care.
Because here is what I know beyond a shadow of a doubt:
Trusting others requires a foundation of trusting yourself.
And trusting yourself requires competence and confidence—skills you can build.
So let me ask you one more question:
Do you feel competent and confident as a team facilitator?
If the answer is anything less than a full-body yes, you’re not alone. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.
This is why we created The Art of Coaching Teams Workshop—a space where leaders slow down, reflect deeply, practice new moves, and build the competence and confidence they need to lead thriving teams.
If you want to strengthen your leadership—and the trust your team feels in you and in each other—this is the place to start.
